Science Council event

Enjoyed participating in a panel on AI at the Science Council event in London today.

Lots of interesting talks and panels – building an ethical framework for the UK to support a number of possible futures.

AI ethics, cultural AI, critical thinking, safety, retaining and developing new competencies, the future workforce, use of AI, training and assessment and applying AI – just some of the topics and themes. A need to speak up when we see unethical practice and treat it as everyone’s ethical practice not a specialism of the few. In the work force and also junior researchers, students, in schools and with the public at large.

Geology and Geoscience has many commonalities with other disciplines (and some unique characteristics) when it comes to AI ethics.
