Pattern Recognition (Human Based!)

Vertebra

I conduct research on pattern recognition in geoscience unstructured text. But nothing can beat the real thing! A half broken Ichthyosaur Vertebra I found last month from the dark mudstones, clays & marls of the Liassic on the Dorset coast in England. Palaeontology is after all about pattern recognition. Looking for specific patterns (deductive) but keeping an open mind to new patterns (inductive). Just like text mining!

If you visit the area the beautiful Etches Collection is a must!

  1. Hi Paul, next time you’re down there give me a call, we’ll meet up for a beer! I live 30 minutes from there.
