My 9 years service at GeoScienceWorld (GSW) has come to a close!

After nine years of service, my time with GeoScienceWorld has come to a close. I was elected to the Board in 2016, re-elected in 2019, and after completing the maximum two terms, I had the honour of joining the newly formed Governance Committee in 2022 for a three year term.

It has been an extraordinary journey, rewarding, inspiring, and full of exceptional people. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned from the dedicated staff, fellow board members, candidates, and my governance committee colleagues.

I recently received through the post a wonderful and unexpected gift, a copy of William Smith’s Geological Maps ‘Strata’ from GeoScienceWorld. My sincere thanks to the team for this thoughtful gesture. I wish everyone continued success and all the very best for the future.

Founded in 2004 by geological societies and institutes, GeoScienceWorld was created as a non-profit to advance collaboration and strengthen the geoscience community. The book celebrates William Smith’s ground breaking 1815 geological map of England and Wales, featuring fossil illustrations by James Sowerby and essays exploring Smith’s influence on mining, agriculture, geology, and beyond.
