Fantastic event today, 1400 geoscientists signed up for “AI, Drones and satellites: tech skills for geoscientists or get left behind”.

Sponsored by the Geological Society of South Africa , Geological Society of Zimbabwe , WAIMM (West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum) and American Institute of Professional Geologists

Excellent talks from David Hodgetts and Glen Nwaila . I learnt quite a bit about digital outcrop modeling and mineral prediction models from remote sensing data.

I gave a talk on using Large Language Models (LLM) in the Geosciences.

Big thanks to the organisers and facilitators Natalie Brand , Andrew Lator and Lovemore Machiridza and the rest of the team. Superbly organised! What a great initiative.

Some great insightful questions and discussions. The recording will be available on the GSSA YouTube channel.
