Advancing Subsurface Data Sharing: Attended a roundtable with academics, industry, government and Member of Parliament.

On the morning of the 4th March I attended a roundtable in London on advancing data sharing in the subsurface. This included experts from industry, academia and government departments such as DSIT, DESNZ and the Environment Agency. The roundtable focused on strategic interests in shared subsurface geotechnical and geological data to make better decisions (reduce cost, save time, reduce uncertainty), to deliver social value through housing and infrastructure projects, reducing the carbon footprint and protecting the environment. Mike Reader, Member of Parliament and Chair of the APPG on Infrastructure was part of the roundtable. Terry Stocks and Holger Kessler from AtkinsRealis set the scene and facilitated the discussion.
