
I’ve now publicly shared the deep learning model to detect ammonites which you can use on a Smartphone. This was built by labelling 300 images of ammonites (over 800 annotations in total) using Datature’s platform free trial version. See my previous posts for more details.
It is meant as a bit of fun to perhaps engage younger children in geology and AI and also showcase possibilities for the visually impaired. It is not meant as a scientific tool.
You don’t need to be a programmer to get involved in Artificial Intelligence (AI) – that is a myth. There are some excellent no-code solutions which mean you can innovate and apply these techniques to your own information quite easily to see what is possible, what can be done, what are the limitations.
