Society of Professional Data Managers (SPDM)

Enjoyed opening the SPDM conference today which runs for three days.

Sharing some models used in today’s Society of Professional Data Managers (SPDM) conference. Bloom’s taxonomy for educational outcomes was created in the 1950’s and is still used in teaching today. After learning we have to remember, understand, apply in new situations, analyse – compare and contrast, draw connections, critically evaluate information and assess its quality and create new original work.

For digital information we use Google-like search to recall (our Exobrain), data discovery tools such as GIS, knowledge-graphs and text embedding models to make connections and generative AI to assist us to create new content.

The Data Manager’s role may be changing to encompass algorithmic oversight in many situations and ensure key data principles (e.g. tracking the source and quality of data) are maintained in AI tools and derivatives. See my earlier post on “The Three Laws of Data Management: in a Frontier AI World”.
