AI Chat Epistemology

Our current obsession over artificial intelligence chat technology may tell us more about ourselves than the technology.

I highly recommend this open access article by Berghel (2023). I’ve written about search engines and epistemology “how we come to know things” back in 2017. Here Berghel discusses ChatGPT and AIChat epistemology.

It is a deep, thought provoking and at times amusing piece. To wet the appetite this is one of his closing paragraphs.

“For the past 30 years, our paradigm for interconnected knowledge was the worldwide web. For the next 30 years it may be the web augmented with AIChat technology. But this enhancement will posture ChatAI closer to the vision of Gutenberg than those of Vannavar Bush and Ted Nelson. Although, we must admit that, given the caveats mentioned previously, we seem to have made some progress toward that of Alan Turing. With ChatAI, the future of unimaginative managers, executives, politicians, and educators may be in jeopardy.”
